“Baggage”

“Baggage” Materials: suitcase, yarn, glue, paper, cardboard, pencils, microfiber stuffing, fishing line. Dimensions: variable.
This work represents what makes us who we are, what emotional baggage we carry with us and how we use our experiences. The spinning wheel turns these negative emotions from a churned up mess into something we can use – barbed wire. The wire is a metaphor for how we build defences to protect us from harm, but what protects us also keeps us from getting close to others and only serves to isolate us further.
